Fall Cross Watercolor Bible Craft

Print

In A Nutshell

This beautiful Fall Cross Watercolor uses black glue and vivid watercolors to create a beautiful three-dimensional fall Bible craft. This takes a bit of time but the results are well worth the effort. Patterns and instructions are included.

Fall Cross Watercolor Bible Craft

Ages:

Tweens, Teens and Adults

Estimated Time

1-1/2 - 2 hours (or this can be a two-day craft)

What You Will Need

  • CGC Leaves Pattern (See Downloads Below). This file contains both large and small sets of leaves and crosses. Use the ones that work best with the size of paper you chose. The larger the paper, the more time you will need.
  • White card stock
  • Watercolor paper is preferred. Pictured paper is 11” x 14”, but you can also use smaller sized paper and in a pinch white card stock.
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Black glue (or make your own with Black acrylic paint and white glue)
  • Masking tape
  • Watercolor paints
  • Paint brush

Preparation

  • Print a set of either the large or small leaves and cross patterns on card stock. You will want 1 set for every two to three people.
  • If you don’t have black glue, you can make your own. Start with a bottle of glue about half full. Add the black acrylic paint and stir with a bamboo skewer until you have the desired color of dark black.

Instructions

  • Cut out cross and leaf patterns.
  • Place the cross in the center of your watercolor paper and outline it with the pencil.
  • Choose a leaf, place it on the paper and trace around it. Continue placing other leaves and trace them on the paper. Be sure to overlap leaves and only draw the parts that would be on top.
  • Trace the pencil lines with the black glue.
  • Set aside to dry. This takes about 15 - 20 minutes depending on how thick you apply the glue. It will dry puffy to give it a dimensional look.
  • Use masking tape to tape down all edges of the paper to your table. This will help to keep the paper flat when painting.
  • Use the watercolors to paint the individual leaves different colors.
  • Once dry, remove the masking tape.
  • To add a finishing touch you can mount your picture on black cardstock.
